This is about a teenager who shares his experiences from the afterlife.  Chuy was murdered in his school restroom.  After that Chuy began his journey in the dead world as a ghost.  He started when he saw himself on the floor in a bloody lagoon.  At first he did not know what happened, but then everything started to make sense.  When air came in from the door, Chuy’s body moves like a leaf in the fall.  The first day he couldn’t control his body, but later he discovered the way to do that.  He just made some tension on his stomach muscles and that way he stayed in one place.  Then he visited his parents’ house and friends’ house.  After several days his hands and arms began to disappear.  In his journey he met a lady ghost with whom he fell in love forever.   They traveled around their town together, and saved the life of a homeless person.  This man was lying on the floor with a temperature, the lady covered him with her cold body and he got much better, but after a few days he died.  And they met him as a ghost too.  Chuy found his murderer. He was looking at his yellow shoes and then he killed him with a knife.  A stupid reason and he asked him, “Why did you do it?” Screaming at him, he couldn’t hear, but he could felt his coldest and got so much more scared.  At the end Chuy understood a lot of things about his family and friends. He could see from a different view, what his mother would always tell him not to do.  He lamented his own death, because it saddened his family and friends. It was for an insignificant reason.  But now in his afterlife with the lady ghost he was very happy until they both disappeared into the air.

My favorite sport is tennis.  I love tennis because it makes me feel great, and it is good exercise.  It’s the only sport that gives me so much excitement, and lets me move my whole body besides dancing.  I used to play a lot with my father in Mexico, but now I play only when we go to the park on Saturdays or Sundays.  I love to watch tennis on T.V. too.  My favorite player is” Roger Frederick”.  He is a participant in the Olympics this year.

Martin was a African- American, who wanted something special for human society, “Human rights”.  He learned from his father that everybody was good as anyone else. When he was young, he wanted to be a doctor or a lawyer , something to help the community.  First, he became a minister, and gave his first sermon to his father’s congregation  when he was only seventeen years old.  And he was ordained as a Baptist  minister when he was only eighteen years old.  When he was attending Crozer Theological Seminary, he learned about Mahatma Gandihi’s technique of helping people without violence.  It occurred to Martin that he could use Gandhi’s approach to help African-Americans gain their just (equal) position in American society.  After that he got a doctor of Theology degree from Boston University.  He married Coretta Scott.  She was studying to became a singer and performer.  Martin became pastor of Dexter Avenue Baptist church in Montgomery.  He participated in organizing successful boycotts against public bus transportation, which required that African Americans sit in the back of busses.  He also won the Nobel Prize for Peace.  Many millions of people respected and loved Dr. King for his work, but there were others who feared and hated him.  His home was bombed, as was his church.  None of his stopped him from doing the work he had to do and most of all, he never returned violence with violence.  On the night of April 3, 1968, he had a premonition that his life might be taken.  He said “I’ve seen the promised land”.  And the next day he was gunned down in Memphis, Tennessee.  He helped the African- Americans to earn the same amount of money as whites for doing the same work.

I remember a Christmas in Mexico when I was 17.  Everybody in my family got together.  My grandmother made a lot of good food, like tamales, atole, bunuelos, pozole, bacalao, and much more.  My uncles and aunts brought delicious pastries and wine.  I am the first granddaughter in the family and at the time all my cousins were children and babies.  By night we already decorated the Christmas tree at grandmother’s house.  Everybody put the gifts around the Christmas tree.  We prayed before dinner at 8:00 pm.  After that, some people talked to each other and others played table games, like cards, lottery, and dominos.  We also made a circle and danced together.  In the dance one person goes in the center and dances for a moment and then everybody has a turn.  At 12:00 midnight we open the gifts and we are still dancing talking, drinking until morning.

The visit to the planetarium was an amazing experience. I really enjoyed it. Dr. Eastman impressed me so much.  He is a very intelligent man. In my class I learned in theory about the solar system.  In the planetarium, however, I felt almost like it was real. I used to say I was a going to be an astronomer, but now I would just like to be informed of it; this profession needs an extraordinary brain.  I would love to go and visit the observatory in L A to know more about the new discoveries.

Our solar system is a compound of 8 planet, moons, and star. We have 2 types of planets, inner planets: Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars.  They are small and are mostly rock and iron. The outer planets are: Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune.  These planets are much larger, and are comprised of hydrogen, heilum, and ice. The sun is the center of our solar system.  It is also the closest star to our planet Earth. It is a huge ball of gas, and the temperature is over 27,000,000 degrees Fahrenheit.  It is very big; a million Earths could fit inside of it. Mercury is the closest planet to the sun and is not very big.  It has been visited 3 times by one space craft called Mariner 10. The characteristics of this plated are very similar to the moon. It orbits the sun very quickly and its temperature is Extreme. Venus is only 67 million miles from the sun. The temperature is up to 867 Degrees Fahrenheit and the curious thing about this planet is that it rotates in opposite direction from the others planets. Earth is our planet.  We are 93 million miles away from the sun.  Earth travels around the sun in 365 days at the speed of 66,000 per hour.  It has only one moon our temperature 59 degrees Fahrenheit and the surface is water, basalt, and granite Rock. Mars has been visited by humans several times. We called the red planet because the temperature is 81 degrees Fahrenheit.  It surface is rich in iron and basalt it has the largest Volcano called Olympus Mons. Jupiter is our biggest planet on our solar system, this planet also a big ball of gas made of hydrogen and helium.  This planet has 63 moons. Saturn has beautiful rings around it and it was discovered with a simple telescope.  The temperature is 218 degrees Fahrenheit, and has a large amount of moons, 47 takes 10Hours, and 39 minutes, 23 seconds to rotate around the sun. Uranus is 1.8 billion miles from the sun.  The average temperature could be 323 degrees Fahrenheit.  It has 27 moons.  A peculiar thing is the north polo stays dark for 42 years at a time. The telescope was invented in the early 1,600.  Scientists learn very much using telescopes, but today they use sophisticated spaceships to visit and learn more about our solar system and Galaxy.

HALLOWEEN

In Mexico Halloween is “El Dia de los Muertos”. It’s November 2nd.  In fact, it’s my birthday.   My family and I celebrate this day by vesting our family members who have died. We take food to the cemetery a make a memorial altar for them.  Afterwards, we pray.   On that day my dad cleans the tomb and everybody brings new flowers. We stay all afternoon until sunset.  When we come back home, I celebrate my birthday with family and friends.

Hi, my name is Myrna, and I would like to share with you why I am fortunate. I am fortunate to have my family. I was born in the city of Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, and it was in a very good hospital. My parents gave me a nice childhood. I always remember being so happy and eating nutritious food. We are not rich in money, but I feel so rich and fortunate in love, protection, respect, sincerity and so many other things my parents gave me.

My name is Myrna .  I was born in Mexico City. I am 34 years old.  I’m married and my husband is from Peru.   My daughter was born here in Santa Ana, CA. She is 3 years old.  When my daughter started attending preschool I came to finish my high school and learn more English. I love to listen to music, and walk in the park with my daughter. I love to travel and visit historical places. I have never been to San Francisco, but I would love to go same day. I don’t work at the moment. I’m going to wait for my daughter to enter Kindergarten. So, I can get a full-time job. In May I went to Disneyland with my husband and daughter to celebrate my daughter’s birthday. We like do things together
